SF Cocktail Week 2012 Arrives -- Gird Your Livers!

2011 Cocktail Week kick off party at Anchor
Cocktail Week kicks off tonight and it promises to be quite a boozy weeklong celebration. Bartenders from around the country will share the spotlight with hometown favorites and locally made spirits.

We'll be bringing you the latest updates throughout the week, with our picks for the best of each night's events (read on for tonight's). Keep your belly fed and hydrated if you want to survive the week, and be smart -- don't drive.

You can buy tickets to all of the events here, but also keep an eye out for specials around the internet, with a current crop available from Gilt City, Scoutmob, and Grubstreet.

Here's a list of what to hit up tonight, Monday, September 17th:

The Artisan Tasting
Where: Anchor Brewing Co., 1705 Mariposa (at De Haro)
When: 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Cost: $45 online ($33.75 with Grubstreet discount code: GRUBSTREET), no tickets sold at the door

The rundown: Fire off the opening shot of whiskey at one of San Francisco's finest producers of beer and spirits: Anchor Brewing and Distilling. With a focus on locally produced artisanal spirits, hobnob and drink with folks from Square One, Hangar One Vodka, St. George Spirits, Craft Distillers, Oro Pisco, Old World Spirits, Sgt. Classic Rum, Tempus Fugit, and Charbay. Cocktails and bites will round out the evening, each highlighting the small batch spirits.

Akvinta Vodka Spirited Supper at Michael Mina
Where: Michael Mina, 252 California (at Battery), 397-9222
When: 6 p.m.
Cost: $100 (tax and gratuity not included), call for reservations

The rundown: The most luxurious cocktail paired dinner you'll ever attend is happening tonight when Michael Mina and bar manager Carlo Splendorini team up for a three-course dinner. First course is the signature Ahi Tuna Tartare served with concoction of Akvinta Vodka, Lillet Blanc, lemon, and Asian pear syrup; second course is Phyllo-Crusted Tai Snapper served with a soothing blend of Akvinta Vodka, Riesling, chamomile tea syrup, and Benedictine; last course is two desserts in one with a Pluot Freezer Pops paired with sweet sounding Champagne float made witg lemon verbena infused Akvinta Vodka, plum syrup, green tea, and green tea sorbet.

Tequila Interchange Project Fundraiser: ¬°Mezcaleria!
Where: Rio Grande, 1108 Market (at 7th)
When: 8 p.m. - 12:30 a.m.
Cost: $20 at the door

The rundown: Do good and drink good. A fundraiser for the group known as Tequila Interchange Project, a nonprofit consumer advocacy group dedicated to the importance of preserving tequila's great heritage. Pay at the door and get your fill of tamales, cumbia, beers, and a selection of mezcals from Del Maguey, Pierde Almas, Alipus, Los Nahuales, Mezcalero, and a brand so new it's not even available yet called Mezcal Tosba.
