Susan Feniger serves dishes from her new book at Insalata's on Sept. 20.
We love pop-ups and temporary chef nights, but we hate keeping track of them. Every few weeks we'll bring you a list of the best upcoming events -- all you have to do is mark your calendar.

Susan Feniger Pop-Up

Where: Insalata's, 120 Sir Francis Drake (at Woodland), San Anselmo, 457-7700
When: Thurs., Sept. 20, 6:30 p.m.
Cost: $110 (purchase tickets in advance via Book Passage)

The rundown: Renowned LA chef and restaurateur Susan Feniger celebrates the release of her new book with a dinner featuring many recipes taken from STREET Food: Irresistibly Crispy, Creamy, Crunchy, Spicy, Sticky, Sweet Recipes. The event, held in conjunction with the food-loving folks at Book Passage, includes passed appetizers, "interactive stations," a family-style meal and take-home spices, all designed to highlight street food dishes from across the world.

Tango & Stache-Up

Where: Dear Mom, 2700 16th St. (at Harrison), 625-3362
When: Mon., Sept. 24, 4-11 p.m.
Cost: $4-14 (items available à la carte)

The rundown: Encouraged by the recent event at Asiento, Tango & Stache is filling up its pop-up dance card with more meals. Head Stache Joshua Wilder Oakley serves up fare such as Negroni pork butt, which has been the T&S calling card in its short history, but he also plans to expand his offerings for this event. The menu will be posted on the event's Facebook page when it is finalized.

Introducing RMD Catering

Where: The Guest Chef, 5337 College Ave. (at Hudson), Oakland, (510) 658-7378
When: Sept. 25-Oct. 7
Cost: $5-21 (items available à la carte)

The rundown: Chef Richard Dawkins is originally from New York, where he was mentored by Danny Meyer and Michael Romano. He has recently started his own catering company after working for the San Francisco Symphony as well as local caterers like Taste and Betty Zlatchin. A two-week stint at Oakland's the Guest Chef, a restaurant built entirely on the pop-up concept, showcases an à la carte menu that includes such eye-openers as seafood crème brûlée and stuffed grilled quail.

Truck Stop Cafe

Where: Truck, 1900 Folsom (at 15th St.),
When: Wed., Sept. 26, 6 p.m. "til we get tired" (typically 10 p.m.)
Cost: $6-19 (items available à la carte)

The rundown: Humphry Slocombe's Jake Godby returns with a pleasingly gut-busting array of snacks we wish were really available roadside, like made to order duck fat Chex mix and bourbon and Coke floats with chocolate chip cookies. Besides those favorites, the menu is slightly different each time and there's usually a one-off surprise dish; last month, he offered lobster rolls as a special. Expect pumping music that you'll have to shout over, and a guy-heavy ratio (it is a gay bar, after all).

My Voice Nation Help

Seriously, this is all so wonderful, it's great to live-in-the-moment.  But it would be so nice to see this kind of passionate response,  to some of life's more pressing issues.

@Tangoandstache Ooh, Wednesday at @dalva? Will try to make it. How late will you be there?

@harmancipants "We are travelers on a cosmic journey..swirling & dancing in the eddies & whirlpools of infinity" All restaurants are pop-ups
