Off the Grid's Picnic at the Presidio Getting Closer, Still Looking for Vendors

Where: The lawn at the Main Post in Presidio National Park.
When: Sun. Oct. 7, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., and every following Sunday in October.
Cost: Free to attend; vendor prices vary.
The rundown: Pretend like you're a member of the old-timey leisure class a week from Sunday, during Off the Grid's first weekly picnic in the Presidio. Instead the usual food trucks, the event will feature bites from established restaurants like Nopalito, Dixie, Bar Crudo, Wing Wings, and Chotto, along with food vendors selling treats like pickles, fresh produce, and syrup to go with the prepared food. Plus, there will be small-batch cocktails like mimosas and bloody Marys prepared "blanket-side."

Once you've had your fill of grub and drinks, all you have to do is choose how to wile away the afternoon. There will be rentable activity kits with everything you need for a round of bocce ball, croquet, or horseshoes, as well as roving kite sellers, newspaper vendors, and "San Francisco troubadours." Or you can just lie on your blanket and watch the Fleet Week airshow or the America's Cup races from your enviable vantage point.
If you don't have the right supplies, not to worry -- there will be baskets, blankets, and warm clothes available for rental or purchase.
