4th Annual FoodBuzz Taste Pavilion

Where: City View at the Metreon, 101 Fourth St. (at Mission), 369-6000
When: Sat., Oct. 20, 1-4 p.m.
Cost: $40 (purchase in advance via Eventbrite)

The rundown: The FoodBuzz Blogger Festival takes place on October 19-20 in various locations in San Francisco and costs close to $400 to register for the full schedule, which includes various seminars and panel discussions. Alternatively, you can choose to spend about 10% of that on one tasting event, which is the culmination of the weekend's activities.

With 60 food and beverage vendors participating in the event (full list TBD; past years have included a mix of small food companies and restaurants), the tasting event also the session at the conference with the most actual food.

While some people do enjoy the networking aspect of these conferences, we'd venture that you can still do a fair bit of schmoozing within these three hours, and at a fraction of the cost. If you do happen to splurge for the full conference, you're allowed to bring one guest to Taste Pavilion for free, and can purchase additional guest tickets for $20 each.
