Outerlands' While-You-Wait Treat
The result of the national attention given to Outerlands can be a stupidly long wait to get a sandwich and a salad in the Outer Sunset, even on weekdays. But it's a delight to discover that there's something at the counter to sweeten the deal of waiting in the chill. A dessert sandwich, if you will, of two chocolate cookies conjoined with a white chocolate ganache that's been spiked with lime zest.

Cook E. Monster doesn't generally approve of white chocolate; it's not real chocolate, and you can look for a fight if you disagree. But here it's just a muted vehicle for the lime, which makes for a glorious combo with the chocolate cookies. These are real chocolate cookies that actually taste like a cocoa product, not what sadly passes for them in the Oreo package.
We're still going to grumble at the prospect of waiting for a table in the future, but it will be while licking chocolate off of our paws.
