Meat Sales are Down, Tommy Lee Hates SeaWorld, and Make Some Vegan Sweet-Potato Bread!
- Happy Meatless Monday! Just about anyone with a brain thinks Meatless Monday is a good idea, even the Time writer who spawned Meatopia (whose site I will not link to because of EW).
- Over and over, the movement to end world hunger calls for a change in the way we eat. Here's a delightfully digestible explanation of food politics with a nice -- though subtle -- vegan injection at the end.
- If you didn't know, Iowa Congressman Steve King is a doofus, and Stephen Colbert is here to remind you why. Essentially, there is a big difference between Rocky and a tortured dog. And King wants to have sex with golden retrievers.
- Tommy Lee has foiled my plot to hate him. I now find him a bit lovable since he told SeaWorld to eff off when they wanted to use Motley Crew music for some absurd SeaWorld show. Lee says they can't use his music because he doesn't "want to be a part of making innocent animals' lives hellish." You go, girl! Tell it.
- Hello, nurse! Welcome to my dream bread: sweet potato pull-apart bread from Boy and the Rabbit. OMG I want this so hard.
- From Pork Network, my go-to news source, Tyson Foods is reporting low sales on meat in the U.S. because of a reduction in demand. SAD TROMBONE.
- From People, my other go-to news source, you can read all about Natalie "Is She Vegan?" Portman's vegan wedding. Vegan weddings are so cool! Too bad I won't have one, seeing as marriage is for nerds.
- More bad news for pork sales/good news for piglets: a Dallas college has banned the sale of pork products on campus. That's thug! So cool. Some people are not pleased, but as the college president stated, "You can be okay without pork. I think they'll survive." I believe they will survive as well.
- This week in adorable happenings, this picture of a dog rescuing her puppies has made its way all around the Internet. Because it's hella cute!
- For my final trick, I leave you with a Bold Italic piece by my dear Laura Beck! She learns to survive in S.F. post-Café Gratitude. That Laura, so spirited!
