Outside Lands Introduces Beer Lands to Fest, Summer Pairings Series Starts This Weekend
Outside Lands returns to Golden Gate Park on Aug. 10 to 12 and makes a bid for being one of the city's biggest food fests with even more edible options than ever. A Taste of the Bay Area features 58 local food vendors, including new businesses such as the Del Popolo monster pizza truck, and brick-and-mortar favorites like Namu Gaji, Maverick, and Nombe.

More than 30 wineries get the good fortune of the coolest, shadiest pavilion at the festival, offering sips in an area dubbed Wine Lands. A new addition, Beer Lands, gives the suds the similar treatment and supplementing past mainstream options like Heineken with local brewers such as 21st Amendment, Drake's Brewing, and Magnolia Gastropub and Brewery; the latter's Dave McLean curated the new selection. The dessert-centric Choco Lands, which debuted last year and gave us incredible Willy Wonka flashbacks, will also return, but the vendors are still to be announced.
Single day passes ($95) and single day VIP passes ($210) go on sale on the official site at 10 a.m. on July 20.
While the main event doesn't take place until next month, the Outside Lands Summer Pairings Series serves as a preview. The three-event series kicks off this weekend with a party on July 22 at Sonoma's Medlock Ames winery with food bus Le Truc, continues with a block party with wine pairings at the American Grilled Cheese Kitchen on July 29, and concludes with a live performance from Sean Hayes at Long Meadow Ranch in Napa on Aug. 5.
Outside Lands is a music festival, too. And this year, there is much to love about how the three-day event has been scheduled musically, with a lineup that includes Metallica and Stevie Wonder and seemingly everything in between. Hop over to our sister blog All Shook Down for some early pointers on how to get the most out of Outside Lands.
