The latest gossip, innuendo, and cold hard facts about the San Francisco food scene.
The team behind Mission Rock Resort & Oyster Bar let us know they're opening the doors to the Mission Bay restaurant August 10. Expect sustainable seafood, waterfront views, a long oyster list, and an extensive bar program.
Also opening early next month: Tablehopper shares the news that Pretty Please Bakeshop will start churning out sweet treats in the foggy reaches of the Richmond District the first week of August, while Eater SF notes Shanghai, the new Castro restaurant from Francis Tsai, plans to open its doors on August 15.
The ever-popular Brenda's is expanding to Fillmore, but Eater SF says that the po'boy shop won't debut for approximately another six months. So no getting out of the never-ending brunch line yet.
Hey dessert lovers, you'll have to wait for Top Chef: Just Desserts winner Yigit Purit's Sweet Tout. Eater SF says the Union Square cafe and patisserie is now expected to open September 8. Blame it on construction problems.
Changes in the kitchen: Inside Scoop divulges another Google employee perk (besides free laundry services and cool bikes) the cafeteria - if you can even call it that - will welcome chef Armando Justo, whose last day at Chotto is Saturday. They also note Rachel Sillcocks, who recently left Piccino, is slated to become the new chef at Range. And Eater SF discover there's a new pastry chef at Saison - Shawn Gawle, who is coming from New York's Corton.
