Meet PuurBuy, the App Designed to Find Sustainable Meals

Categories: Food Apps

Yelp is just so 2010! Depending on it is reminiscent of the days when San Franciscans used to toss their orange peels and disposable forks into the garbage. But, for those of us who still need a little help from our phones when choosing dinner, PuurBuy has an app for that: A free download with listings of sustainable, healthy restaurant including photos, prices and information on the quality and sourcing of menu items.

The beta iPhone application launched Sunday.

With sustainability expert Paul Hawken working to ensure PuurBuy's standards, and over 80 Bay Area restaurants already signed up for the Beta launch (while the app is free to customers, PuurBuy's bread and butter comes from the restaurants listed on the site), this could be something big.

Founder and CEO Brendan P. Murphy says "Our goal is to make pure buying choices as easy and mainstream as recycling by 2020. Our team is working passionately with local businesses to make the healthy option the easy option."

So, come Earth Day we can all make the most politically correct choice for dinner. Here's hoping the app works, wouldn't it be nice to have a "modern-day" app that makes finding a spot which appeals to the whole family (even your vegan sister) as easy as a slice of gluten-free apple pie.
