The rundown: With Cinco de Mayo falling on a Saturday this year, your options to wash the day away with cheap tequila will be plentiful. Finding a proper fiesta will be just as easy with Hecho en San Francisco.

Returning bigger and better in its second year, the event hosted by CUESA, La Cocina, and Tacolicious will make you feel good while you do good. The food and drink-fueled celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Mexican army's victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla, will feature some of the Bay Area's best Mexican food and cocktails to match.

Last year the fresh hand-made tortillas from La Palma Mexicatessen filled with braised meats and market vegetables from Tacolicious were exceptional. The hot, hand-patted tortillas fresh off the griddle alone were worth the ticket, but chef Telmo's fillings immediately make them into a fiesta. The appropriately delicious cooking of Puebla from La Torta Gorda, edible insects from Don Bugito's prehispanic snackeria, fresh ceviche from Nopalito, along with bites from Alicia's Tomales, Chaac Mool, El Buen Comer, and others.

You can't have a Cinco de Mayo party without tequila and Don Julio and local bartender Roberto Gonzales will be mixing up a mole cocktail (Don Julio Añejo, lime, agave syrup, Tacolicious mole poblano) and his Maximilian Affair (Don Julio Blanco, Green Chartreuse, lime, agave syrup, absinthe, sparkling wine), while Mi Casa will mix up Tequila Daisies (tequila, lime, grenadine). Tequila jello-shots (pretty and intoxicating) from Sweets Collection, and more cocktails from Jose Cuervo will keep you properly lubricated. If you're not in a cocktail mood, have Victoria or Corona beer, and for the non-drinkers fresh and seasonal agua fresca will be available from El Buen Comer will have you cheering ¡Viva Mexico!
