The Rundown: Like most educational institutions in California, CCSF's culinary arts and hospitality studies department is understaffed and underfunded. The department will open its kichens with guided tours by faculty and students celebrating street food offerings inspired by North Beach, Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf, a taco truck from the Mission, and a farmers' market. Then there's Ghirardelli Square treats to end it on a sweet note.
The hospitality program is the first public two-year program in the country and the first to emphasize the culinary arts. Donations will help with scholarships and student programs. Featured in the silent and live auctions are dinners from Benu, Gary Danko and Foreign Cinema as well a whole pig butchery class.
