The past 24 hours in gossip, innuendo, and cold hard facts about the San Francisco food scene.

The construction transformation is almost complete, and Maestro is nearing its opening date. Inside Scoop reports the French restaurant, in the former Trader Vic's and Stars space, is slated to open in a few weeks. The restaurant's cafe, however, may open as soon as next week.

The salad-sandwich mini-chain Mixt Greens is readying to expand. Eater SF reports plans for an outpost in SOMA sometime during 2013, as well others outside of the city: Berkeley, Palo Alto, and L.A. But at the same time, they're returning to their sustainable roots by re-initiating the practice to source ingredients within 150 miles of S.F.

Cha-Ching: Eater SF confirms Cafe 780 is in full-swing and shelling out the $30,000/month rent for the former the Summit space (780 Valencia at 18th St.). That adds up to too-many-to-count cups of coffee.
