Local's Corner Readies, Criolla Kitchen Goes Dark, and the Pizza Pimp Truck
Eater SF first caught wind of Local's Corner's impending opening late last week, and now the blog confirms that the restaurant from the team behind Local: Mission Eatery is slated to start daytime service tomorrow (2500 Bryant at 23rd St.).
After learning of the plans for Criolla Kitchen to morph into Parish Eleven this April, we were shocked to learn the restaurant is currently closed. Grub Street and Eater SF noticed the Southern restaurant unexpectedly went dark over the weekend. Grub Street adds that the phone line is dead, and the Facebook page has been idle since February.
The Rockit Room is in trouble with the Entertainment Commission. Richmond Blog SF reports, via the Examiner, that the bar and music venue was ordered to meet 17 conditions to retain their entertainment permit. One (large) reason behind the long list: Police continually have to "baby-sit" the bar, often dispatching two officers to the location near last call.
Food Truck News: The Pizza Pimps Truck is readying to roam the East and South Bay, according to Grub Street via Good Taste/NBC. And yes, the mascot is a piece of pizza donning a purple hat and leaning on diamond-encrusted cane.
While we're on the subject, Inside Scoop discovers that the pending Namu Gaji was assigned the phone number of a porn company. There were no confused callers; AT&T caught their mistake before the line went live.
