DRINK 2012 Promises Boozy Tastings and Cocktail Competitions

This Saturday, come watch some of San Francisco's best bartenders work at DRINK, SF Weekly's second annual celebration of all that is alcoholic. Taste your way through dozens of cocktail components like Carpano Antica, Templeton Rye, Fever Tree tonic, Zacapa Tequila, and St. George's new botanivore series of gins -- and if sports aren't your thing, there will be beers from Leffe and Hoegaarden and wines from Charles Krug, Tin Barn Vineyards, and many others. Old Puppy will be on hand, playing bluegrass, folk, and hula, and so far the weather report promises opportunities for relaxing on the patio of the Metreon, with its view of the SF skyline and the Bay Bridge.

In addition, the Weekly has invited four bartenders to come up with cocktails incorporating a secret ingredient that we will reveal to them at the start of the event. You'll have a chance to compare their drinks at various tasting stations, and later, a panel of experts from the U.S. Bartenders Guild will judge the results and declare a winner. A portion of the proceeds goes to support the work of the guild, which is working to improve the quality of cocktails across the nation.
