All things pastrami and pickles: The popular pop-up Wise Sons Jewish deli is nearly ready to open their new brick-and-mortar. Thrillist notes that this Sunday they'll soft launch with a brunch in their new space (the former El Tonayense on 24th St.). If you want to be there, better reserve a spot now. The official opening date remains undetermined -- but it's soon!
Bernalwood reports the recently shutter the Park Bench Cafe is now under the same ownership of nearby neighborhood haunt Charlie's Cafe. The owner, yes-his-name-is Charlie, is currently brainstorming -- and taking input -- for future use of the space.
And yet, more sushi. Tablehopper discovers another new place to grab a roll: Sushi Taka (600 Kearny at Sacramento). This DIY-roll restaurant allows for almost any roll of the imagination. Eel, salsa, and chipotle ranch? Go ahead.
Hidden amongst the historic buildings of the Presidio, La Terrasse wasn't all that easy to pick out. Now, Eater SF confirms the French restaurant has shuttered.
Seconds: Inside Scoop and Tablehopper report that Sauce is readying to open a second location on Belden Place in the current Thermidor location. As of now, chef Ben Paula is in the kitchen working under the Thermidor moniker, but this will all change once the ABC license goes through and they're able to make some changes. Expect a formal opening of the second Sauce in March.
Also planning to open another location is Roam Artisan Burgers. Inside Scoop notes the restaurant has (nearly) closed the deal to take over the currently shuttered Osaka spot in Pacific Heights. If the deal goes through expect the grill to go hot this Summer.
And yet another second location. Tablehopper learns via a reader that the Calabria Brothers deli is slated to open the next location of the deli this Saturday in the Excelsior.
The Rock Bar -- whose name comes from the 70's-era rock facade of the building rather than the genre of music -- is readying to open this week. Inside Scoop notes the bar from the owners of the Front Porch will serve cocktails and local craft beer, but no food. The option to get something to-go from Front Porch is an option though.
Changes in the kitchen: Aaron London has left Napa's Ubuntu and set his sights set on opening a restaurant here in the City. Inside Scoop shares he's found a small space, but the deal isn't closed -- yet.
