The past 24 hours in gossip, innuendo, and cold hard facts about the San Francisco food scene.

Pending Openers: State Bird Provisions is slated to swoop in just before the end of the year. Tablehopper says the small bites restaurant from the husband-and-wife team of Stuart Brioza and Nicole Krasinski is readying to open the doors on New Year's Eve.

And just after the ball drops on 2012, The Social Study will starting serving drinks, coffee, and rustic food. Tablehopper reveals the space, slated to open Jan. 3, will have the ever-popular communal table, in addition to the bar area and the somewhat odd, padded, blue-wall slat seating. The space will also serve as a lounge/music venue/art gallery, according to the Facebook, they're calling it the Fillmore's "own little living room."

La Boulange had quite a year in S.F., with its Pier One location falling through and its largest location opening at 222 Sutter (at Claude) in late summer. And their location inside the Merchants Exchange Building is on schedule. Tablehopper discovers the latest outpost of the French bakery will open Dec. 28.

New place for drinks: Tablehopper has the details on Sofa, a new speakeasy bar under Bossa Nova. The bar, in a 1920s speakeasy space, is serving nibbles to nosh and drinks along with music and film screenings (139 Eighth St. at Minna). And on its heels, comes another SOMA bar. Tablehopper learns that the club, The Grand, is slated to open on New Year's Eve.

But alas, when 2011 ends, so will the Castro restaurant Leticia's. Tablehopper reports the Mexican restaurant will close its doors Dec. 31. Grub Street reminds us this is the second closure of the Mexican restaurant; it initially closed in 2005 and reopened in January 2010. We're guessing this may officially be the end.

Oh, and just a reminder, Maven is open as of today, and not Monday as was previously reported (598 Haight at Steiner). Inside Scoop has a few snapshots of the place.
