What: The Bay Citizen & The Booksmith Culture Talks: The Bay Area's Food Scene

Where: Madrone Studios, 1317 15th St. (at Folsom).

When: Tonight! Nov. 17, 7 p.m.

Cost: $15 door, $10 before, and free for Bay Citizen members

The rundown: The foodie realm extends far beyond the reaches of traditional restaurants -- and tonight four panelists will discuss the specific aspects that shape the diverse Bay Area food scene outside of the commonplace brick-and-mortars. From food trucks to the underground food economy to pop-ups, the round table will provide an inside scoop of what's going on here.

Sharing their thoughts at the discussion will be Traci Des Jardins of Jardinière and Mijita Cocina Mexicana, Karen Lebiowitz who co-authored Mission Street Food, Jesse Hirsch, who among other foodie ventures writes our weekly Seven-Day Dish newsletter and is the Food Writer at the East Bay Express, and executive director of La Cocina Caleb Zigas.

If the food world beyond white tablecloths and established menus has always interests you, then grab a seat.
