Dontaye Ball's Good Foods Catering (a Best Of winner for its barbecue) takes over the counter at Lower Haight chicken joint Wing Wings tonight (October 11) from 6-10 p.m. for the first in a new series of soul food pop-up dinners.

Prices for the à la carte takeout menu range from $1-14, with the main course options of blackened tofu with a choice of two side dishes ($11), cornmeal crusted catfish with grits and fried corn ($12), and pork belly and beef meatloaf with buttermilk mashed yams and slow cooked greens ($14). Ball will take a break from this idea in order to offer holiday catering until the end of the year, but he says that future installments in 2012 are possible.
