The Melt's Grilled Cheese Expansion, Little Bird Flutters Shut, and Moya Ethiopian to Return

The Melt's budding empire, building towards 500 grilled cheese shops, is readying to open three locations next month. City-dwelling-grilled-cheese-fans will find the sandwiches at One Embarcadero Center and Spear (near AT&T Park); the third location will be at the Stanford Shopping Center. Only 496 to go.

The cute cafe Little Bird is flying the coop. The Tender sings of the cafe's closure with the end of the day. But, the chef may give the spot another go as a new restaurant.

After a fire raged through a SOMA building in May, it appeared the displaced Moya Ethiopian Restaurant was a goner. Today LiveSOMA has the good news it will return to the neighborhood on 121 Ninth St. (at Minna) with a new menu; an opening is slated for Dec. 1.

Aziza will remain only in the foggy reaches of the Richmond, as the plans to expand to the spot on 500 Jackson are over. Inside Scoop says owner Mourad Lahlou halted the deal for unknown reasons.
