More like empanaditas.
Constanza Ortiz, the Colombian native behind Maite Catering, is bringing her signature tiny tapas -- most notably, these petite empanadas -- to El Rio this Sunday and again on Sept. 25 during Salsa Sundays to show that, yes, great things can come in small packages.

Maite Catering, one of the businesses in La Cocina's incubator program, specializes in Colombian and Latin American tapas like tiny cups of ceviche. Ortiz's menu for the Street Food Festival -- this year was her first -- included Colombian specialties like aborrajado (fried plantain, guava, and cheese) and patacon pisao (fried green plantain topped with ceviche or mushroom).

For Salsa Sundays, patrons can nibble on these tidbits while dancing to live salsa music from local bands.

Maite's bites have already been at Salsa Sundays for about a month, but since El Rio hosts these events outside, they're ending when summer does. But until then: 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sept. 4 and Sept. 25 at El Rio.
