Rustic Bakery Granola Might Not Be Healthy, But It's Delicious

When I tasted through Rustic Bakery's line a while back I liked a lot of things, but chose biscotti-style cookies as my favorite from the Larkspur bakery and thought, "That's done."

However, my wife got into the leftover vanilla pecan granola and her mmms and aahs convinced me there might be more to consider.

My wife's not much of granola-eater. She's a fan of our friend Dana's homemade granola, still warm from the oven. Beyond that it's not on the pantry list. So back to the bag I went, after I confiscated it from her ("Hey! That's for work, dear. They didn't send that for you to eat. This is a job").

The thing I noticed, beyond the general fact that this granola is very good, is the butter and honey. The butter almost coats your fingers, and the subtle note of honey, behind the vanilla and brown sugar, mixed among the crunch of nuts and seeds and oats and other granola-ey goodness, makes me feel like I'm eating something decadent, not something crunchy-Birkenstock-healthy.

Since brown sugar is the second ingredient, all of which are organic, and a serving size is 1 oz and 110 calories (80 of which are from fat),  and there are 12 servings in a bag I'd eat in days not weeks, I don't think anyone should pretending this is good for you. But a tablespoon sprinkled over some Saint Benoit yogurt is all I need for a decadent, delicious, and entirely reasonable breakfast. That assumes I can get the bag back from my wife, who snatched it away while I was typing.
