The past 24 hours in gossip, innuendo, and cold hard facts about the San Francisco food scene.

Waiting behind the red rope for the bouncer to let the group in to Bi-Rite Market has become an unusual, busy-weekend ritual. Grub Street shares, via the Uptown Almanac, with the Fire Marshal keeping tabs of the capacity limit inside the store, so is Bi-Rite. Makes us wonder how bad we'd want that bag of chips to wait in line to weave around the crowded store to then wait in line again.

That was quick. Tyler Florence hired Cory Lane (formerly of David Chang's Momofuku) last year to oversee the front of house operations of his three Bay Area restaurants (Napa's Rotisserie & Wine, Mill Valley's El Paseo, and the Wayfare Tavern), but now, Grub Street reports he's let Lane go, along with current Rotisserie & Wine GM James Frazey. This has been quite a year for Florence (being sued by former business partners and Jane Goodall). No word yet on their replacements.

Sleek and modern, with a nod to Scandinavian design (think: white), Eater SF shares a look inside the new W Hotel restaurant, Trace (181 Third St. at Howard). Opening today, the menu includes a mission statement focusing on local and sustainable foods and a tagline, "FARMED | CRAFTED | SHARED." Interesting.

Closure: Y Ben House Restaurant in Chinatown has permanently shuttered, and a "For Lease" sign now adorns their window. No word yet on why they've closed.

When it floods above: Inside Scoop shares Charles Phan's Out the Door, located on the bottom floor of the Westfield Centre, is temporarily closed due to problems out of their control, but above their ceiling. Unfortunately, this is the second time the restaurant has closed due to flooding; they're still assessing the damage and determining when they'll reopen.

Another temporary closure: Eater SF shares Kebabs of Hayes Valley is closed for repairs. Eater SF hypothesizes they may be victims of "Kebab Wars" (falling to Mazzat and Hayes & Kebab), but only time will tell.

And Harry Denton's Starlight Room reopens tonight with a new cocktail program and revamped interior.
