Who Makes SF's Best Bloody Mary? You Tell Us

why leave astoria
A Bloody Mary is like pizza, suggests our reader Dean Bonner, who complained on a post yesterday that he can't find one to his taste in San Francisco. If you like thin crust pizza, you won't find even great Chicago-style pizza to your liking.

That makes sense, as a Bloody Mary is kind of like a boozy pizza in a cup. SF Weekly named Zeitgeist as the producer of the best Bloody Mary in town. But there must be alternatives that others would find more to their liking.

We asked our twitter crowd to help, and we got some suggestions we'll share here. If you have others, please chime in in the comments. Let the Bloody Mary suggestions flow freely.

(By the way, this came up because Happy Girl Kitchen will dole out free Bloody Marys on Friday.)

Say "Bloody Mary" three times into the mirror and she's supposed to appear. Or maybe this is just a hangover pic.
@ardiss16: Zuni Cafe has a great Bloody Mary. They add balsamic vinegar, serrano peppers and onions.

@ajlin: Foreign Cinema?

@randomlisasf: Zeitgiest, Harvey's, Serpentine, and Sir Francis Drakes' Sunday BM bar.

@Tijuanalandia: The Orbit Room on Market Street at Laguna.

@neoncadaver: Hobson's Choice has their own Bloody Mary bar. If he doesn't like it there, it's his own fault.

And these from comments on the original post:

Marianners: Hey now! You just gotta head on down to Foreign Cinema on Mission for a really spicy (and Yummy) one, or even down the street to the Attic, the blond bartender makes a mean Bloody Mary with generous pickled items. Or cheap - go to Zeitgeist. Enjoy!

Seanalyn: Plenty of places in SF make Bloody Marys with Worcestershire....actually most places do unless they are making a fusion one. A few good places off the top of my head are Orson, Oola, Chieftain and Benders.

That's a lot of Bloody Mary love. Any other suggestions, folks?
