The Gap's Food Truck, Anthony Bourdain is here, and Nojo's Table
The past 24 hours in gossip, innuendo, and cold hard facts about the San Francisco food scene.
We don't usually think about food while buying clothes, but the recent Gap food truck looks to be bridging that, well, gap. Eater SF shares, via PopSugar, Pico de Gap is offering Mexican food from Brunch Drunk Love's Ryan Scott. The truck is parking at events and Gap stores in S.F. through Sept. 30.
We'll kind of miss the 50's paper hats. Inside Scoop reports the Chestnut Street location of Johnny Rockets has shuttered, and is readying to transform into the latest location of modern burger powerhouse Super Duper.
Grub Street was right, while Anthony Bourdain is not slated to appear at Zeitgeist on Aug. 12, they hypothesized he'd show up in S.F. Now word comes from a few of their tipsters that he was spotted at Dolores Park Café, Rosamunde, and Toronado.
Over at Nojo, the place we recently mentioned charges for parties who are missing even one reserved diner, now has a different type of no show: its table. Eater SF reports a super strong thief carted away one of Nojo's heavy, custom-made tables from out front. We're not sure how the thief plans to hide this. A tablecloth?
And Tablehopper has a couple pending openers: The wine bar replacing the Hidden Vine, Barrel Room, is set to open this Friday (620 Post at Cosmo). While it will feature wines from around the world, by-the-glass wines will focus on France. Also, Café De La Paz, a coffee house and roastery, is slated to open this September in SOMA (Mission at Seventh Ave.). Although it's right up the street from Sightglass, we're sure there are enough coffee drinkers to go around.
