Jane Goodall's Fight Over Baby Food, Chairman Bao Wants to Race, and More Pizza

The past 24 hours in gossip, innuendo, and cold hard facts about the San Francisco food scene.

We can honestly say we didn't see this one coming. Jane Goodall, mother to all primates, is suing local celebrity chef Tyler Florence's baby food company Sprout. Grub Street shares, via the New York Post, that Goodall signed on with Florence's company to distribute "Janey Baby by Jane Goodall," which apparently never happened. Oddly enough, this marks the second suit involving Florence in recent months.

Speaking of the Food Network star, the Feast shares that Chairman Bao has its fingers crossed in hopes of garnering enough votes to become part of the Food Network's The Great Food Truck Race, which is hosted by none other than the baby food guru.

A quick chef report: Tablehopper shares that after eight years and counting, Delfina's chef de cuisine Matthew Gandin, is stepping out of the kitchen. He says he's looking forward to some time off and doing his own thing.

Some sunlight may be in order for The Midnight Sun. Grub Street reports it was purchased by two owners of Q Bar, and the recently acquired, already renovated, the Edge. We agree with Grub Street, some windows could be a nice addition to the Castro bar.

Two step forward, one steps back: Inside Scoop shares Aato, a Korean fusion restaurant, has opened for dinner (1449 Lombard at Van Ness). Eater SF notes Little Vine, a specialty food store in North Beach, will open next week. Meanwhile, Tablehopper shares that the Fillmore frozen yogurt shop, Jubili, has stopped swirling frozen goodness into cups, and closed its doors.

And because we can't get enough pizza: Eater SF shares that it looks like the brakes have been put on the Fillmore's Pizza Orgasmica expansion, and, via Casey's Pizza Twitter, it looks as though Casey's food truck, complete with a pizza oven, will roll out this September.
