Free Bloody Marys at Happy Girl Kitchen's Grand Opening Party

• Maybe the 'Human Pickle' will be none other than San Francisco artist Homero Hidalgo!

• Blake I like my Bloody Marys to be dark and spicy. Maybe sharing how i make my own will help. This is a recipe that a place just south of New Orleans has been using for ages. Ice in cup, add hot sauce (Louisiana, Crystal, or Cajun Chef...NO Tabasco and NO horseradish), Worcestershire,  celery salt, pepper. Then add vodka, this helps dissolve the spices. Add V-8 and stir/shake. Pour in glass, sprinkle salt, squeeze LEMON, garnish with celery. • thanks for the suggestions. I wasn't saying that no places use Worcestershire, but just that IF that was a Bloody Mary, it looked odd. I have tried plenty in the city my first 5 years here, but over the last year I have stopped trying. People love the ones at Zeitgeist, but I am not a fan. I guess Bloody Marys are like pizza, if you prefer a style (Chicago or. NY) then you just won't be happy with certain pizza. I have just come to terms that there are some things that San Francisco can't offer me because I have a preconceived notion of what I am looking for. 

• Latest word on the drinks - straight from the source: "we will also have strawberry margaritas made with our delicious strawberry lemonade mix master (drink mix) and sweet cherry whiskeys." 

• Oh, and the human pickle will be a girl, a "Happy Girl."

• As Happy Girl pickles and preserves a variety of products (watch for a post on same later) I suspect that green thing is a pickled green bean, something I prefer in my bloody in lieu of a celery stick for swizzling.  I'll reserve judgement on the cocktail itself until it is tasted but I did learn today a) this will be the debut this season of their tomato juice due to the late harvest b) they'll have a margarita of sorts as well.

• Hey now! You just gotta head on down to Foreign Cinema on Mission for a really spicy (and Yummy) one, or even down the street to the Attic, the blond bartender makes a mean Bloody Mary with generous pickled items. Or cheap - go to Zeitgeist. Enjoy!

• Plenty of places in SF make Bloody Marys with Worcestershire....actually most places do unless they are making a fusion one. A few good places off the top of my head are Orson, Oola, Chieftain and Benders.

• Next time I'm in SF for a tasting I'll have to make one for you.

• Well I can't really help you there. Although there was a Bloody Mary contest at Scala's on Sunday, we previewed it but didn't drink it all in. But I took this photo from Happy Girl's website, it's supposed to be just tomato juice. Is that a bean, or a spoon? Not sure.

• I think it actually be captioned wrong unless it is common to put beans in Tomato juice. Regardless, I ain't found a Bloody Mary in the Bay Area that is any good.

• Yes definitely need Worcestershire sauce along with a couple splashes of http://adoboloco.com sauce to kick that Bloody Mary up a notch or 2.

• That Bloody Mary looks like garbage. People in San Francisco need to go down south and learn what a real Bloody Mary tastes like. No Worcestershire sauce==no Bloody Mary in my book.
