Sat., July 9

Family Pasta Making Class
Ferry Building, 2-4 p.m.
Anthony Strong of Locanda is teaming up with Charles Phan of the Slanted Door for an East/West tutorial on Italian and Asian noodle-making. Using farm-fresh eggs and wheat ground on location, these culinary titans will have you cranking out restaurant-quality pasta faster than you can say McNaughton. Complete description here.

Sun., July 10

Misguided Bacon Slam at Thirsty Bear
Thirsty Bear Brewing Company, 661 Howard (at Third St.), noon
We're squeamish about this bacon cooking slam, but not because we don't love bacon. In the wake of last week's publication of Mother Jones' takedown of the Hormel factory, "15 pounds of Hormel bacon!" has limited appeal. Complete description here.

CUESA's Summer Celebration
Ferry Building, 6-9 p.m.
CUESA's Summer Celebration begins with the convergence of 36 restaurants and food purveyors along with 21 different beverage stations (5 nonalcoholic, 16 the way we like it) inside the Ferry Building. You can consume as much as you want; it's all included in the ticket price. Complete description here.
