Reality Cooks, Our Favorite Dive Bar Folds, and More Chef Pop-Ups

All cooks seeking reality show fame should show up at Ducca tomorrow. The Feast shares that the producers of Top Chef will be at the Italian restaurant for the casting of a new cooking-themed show for Bravo. They remain relatively mum on the show, but do require contestants to have a valid passport.

Our favorite "Best True Dive Bar," Terry's Lodge, is set to shutter. Grub Street reports the new owner will be renaming it the Brick Wall. No word yet whether it will stay true to its divey nature and continue to open at 6 a.m.

Moving the luau elsewhere: A tipster e-mailed SFoodie this morning with the photographic evidence that the Hawaiian restaurant Hukilau (5 Masonic at Geary) was closed by the Department of Public Health yesterday because of health hazards: food contamination, disease transmission, and vermin infestation. No word yet on when or if it will reopen.

The smell of barbecue coming from the Castro is the new food truck addition Smoke BBQ. Tablehopper shares that the truck will be parking in the ARCO lot (376 Castro at Market.) Wed.-Sat. from 11:30 a.m. until late evening. The menu includes cheesesteaks smothered in American's favorite cheese sauce.

Chefs continue to pop up around the city: Tablehopper shares that Fifth Floor's David Bazirgan will be at the Ferry Building Tacolicious lunch stand tomorrow, and La Cocina's Maite Catering will be at El Rio for Salsa Sundays on July 24. Meanwhile Inside Scoop reports Manresa pastry chef, Belinda Leong, will do a pastry-themed pop-up at Flour + Water on August 7.

A new bar, Per Diem, is slated for the Chancery Building (564 Market at Montgomery). From the Marina's Brick Yard team, Grub Street reports that the bar is looking for a September opening. No word yet on if it will be sporty or sleek.

And a quick open and close from Tablehopper: Arabian Nights (2345 Mission St. at 19th St.), a Lebanese restaurant, is open in the Mission. We're hoping its owners got the memo about putting the kibosh on hookahs. Meanwhile, the Financial District's Mediterranean restaurant, Petrino, has closed.
