The past 24 hours in gossip, innuendo, and cold hard facts about the San Francisco food scene.

The smell of bacon is wafting through the city air today, as Bacon Bacon Truck, which we mentioned earlier, parks in SOMA for its first day. SFist shares the news that bacon lovers can pick up lunch this week (Tue.-Thu.) on Bluxome (at Fifth St.).

Because one meat truck isn't enough, Inside Scoop reports Avedano's is planning a truck for the Hayes Valley Proxy Project. The butcher shop's truck will serve beef and pork sandwiches six days a week. They'll be pulling into their parking spot any moment now.

The meatily-named Pig and Pie is slated for the former Discolandia record store at 2962 24th St. (at Alabama). While unsure if the menu will indeed include pork, or meat of any kind, Grub Street shares that there will be drinks. The partners behind the business, Nathan Overstreet and Miles Pickerin, have filed for the ever-elusive liquor license.

Inside Scoop shares more details about Cedar Hill, slated to open in the Marina around Labor Day. The Southern restaurant is installing a smoker that will allow it to make its own bacon, smoke fish, and cook large amounts of, you guessed it, meat.

The only meatless news of the day is the closure of year-old Ristorante Allegro in Hayes Valley. Inside Scoop reports the Italian restaurant's shutter came quick, and the space is already on the market. Maybe a vegetarian eatery will want the space?
