Where:Baker and Banker, 1701 Octavia (at Bush), 351-2500
When: Wed., July 20

The rundown: If you're like us, and you spend way too much time immersed in the minutiae of San Francisco's chef elite, you know that Humphry Slocombe flavormaster Jake Godby spent time cooking savory before he went sweet at restaurants including Boulevard, Zuni, Fifth Floor, and Coi.
Wednesday night, you have a rare chance to sample his regular food as Baker and Banker kicks off its series of guest chef dinners (stay tuned for upcoming evenings with Thomas McNaughton of Flour and Water and Ryan Farr from 4505 Meats). The five-course tasting menu would normally run you $75 but the restaurant is offering $10 off to SFoodie readers. That's not taco truck money but hey, when's the next time you'll try Godby's sweetbreads?
Menu highlights: Parmesan gnocchi (roasted sweet 100 tomatoes, corn, pea shoots, and parmesan cream); tuna and chicken fried sweetbreads (upside-down cornbread, picked green beans, and buttermilk dressing); honey-wort pie (peaches and yoghurt ice cream)
Make reservations at OpenTable. Mention SF Weekly in the notes section to get your $10 discount.
