Lower Haight Chicken Shack Wing Wings Opens on Wednesday
Earlier this year, SFoodie reported that former Little Skillet chef Christian Ciscle would open his own place called Wing Wings, and the grand opening is now set for tomorrow (June 15). Inspired by East Coast chicken shacks and Southern comfort food, the launch of Wing Wings fulfills his original restaurant goal right in the Lower Haight, the same neighborhood where he's lived since moving here in 1996. It's also the area where he opened his now-defunct first food venture, Big Sherm's Sandwiches. The cozy counter-driven takeout place features warm local colors (orange and black) and a dozen stools along both sides of the walls.

Ciscle told us that his chicken wings come from free-range, naturally fed California chickens from Pitman Family Farms, which are air-chilled, not frozen, and are PETA-endorsed. Everything is made fresh with quality ingredients and nothing is frozen. The fried chicken wings come in five, 10, and 25-piece portions, with copious sauce options such as classic buffalo, Korean style, honey mustard, BBQ, and an original Wing Wings sauce and extra topping options including bacon, chopped chiles, and chicharrones. Ciscle will also offer fresh biscuits, chicken salad, pickles, fried plantains, and fruit pies. He says he'll open daily from 11 a.m. to midnight (closed Tuesdays), and will close at 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
