Little Joe's ends up in the middle of big news: LiveSOMA reports that the Pink Saturday shooting took place just outside Little Joe's new location. What a way to ring in day number three! One victim ran inside with a gunshot wound in his upper leg, where police quickly tended to him; he and the other victims are expected to survive. Here's hoping the restaurant's second week turns out better than the first.
Chef Tanya Holland is a busy lady; Inside Scoop notes that the Brown Sugar Kitchen owner just took on another restaurant venture. This August she'll open B-Side BBQ, just down the street from her Oakland soul food restaurant. It's a good thing these two places are close, as her second Brown Sugar Kitchen is slated to open in Bayview-Hunters Point this September.
Believe it or not, there's a bowling revival happening, and it's moving the sport and its bar menu out of the 1970s and into the city. The reason behind the city's oldest liquor store's temporary shutter? It was caught for selling alcohol to minors. Twice! Earlier we reported that the closure of 78-year-old John Walker & Co. was to get back in shape. Now Eater SF says that the state's Board of Alcoholic Beverage and Control has suspended its liquor license until July 10 and Grub Street thinks it'll reopen July 11.
West Portal residents are missing Cafe for All Seasons. Inside Scoop notes that the restaurant shuttered unexpectedly for what a sign deems "kitchen renovations." Neighbors have started their own sign taped to the door, listing the names of those who are hungry for its return.
Over in Bernal Heights, Lucky Horseshoe's opening planned for Saturday didn't happen. Bernalwood shares that the opening is now slated for Wednesday.
No one was ever sure whether it was a wings place or a front for something else, but whatever it was, it's closed now. Mission Mission blogs that the NY Buffalo Wings' space on Valencia is up for sale.
Noe Valley SF shares the rumor that AmberJack Sushi has shuttered. With the website down and the awning sign gone, it looks as though this hearsay is true.
