Paul Greenberg Discusses the Future of Fish

Where: Omnivore Books

When: Tuesday, June 7, 6 p.m.

Cost: Free

The rundown: Paul Greenberg, sustainable fish guru and author of Four Fish: The Future of the Last Wild Food, will speak about his book and also about how there are approximately no fish left because of overfishing and pollution. Humans much eat fish or else we'll die, so it's important to figure out how to turn out salmon, sea bass, cod, and tuna in ways that don't continue to destroy their wild populations and the entire ecosystem. For example, did you know that 26 pounds of other sea animals are killed and tossed back into the ocean for every one pound of shrimp caught? Damn. Greenberg's message isn't all doom and gloom; there's hope, if we can change the way we do things. We can do this! So, see you in a couple hours -- we'll be the ones in the back, munching on a tuno sandwich.
