| Kevin Diedrich at the Burritt Room |
In May, we were the first to talk to Burritt Room's bar manager Kevin Diedrich before he opened the Crescent Hotel bar, and now we're breaking the news that he's officially leaving it. His last day is Friday, June 24, and from the sounds of it, no replacement has been named yet.
Luckily, it sounds like he has some exciting new options. He couldn't tell us what they are yet, but keep your ears open for more news as it develops.
Diedrich shaped and created an impressive program during his time at the
Burritt Room, making the search for a replacement a formidable task. Aside from regularly packing the house and making the hotel bar a cocktail destination and winner of
our Best of SF 2011, he was recently named one of the
Chronicle's
Bar Stars of 2011. Diedrich is slated to defend the bar at the Bar Room Brawl cocktail competition next month at the
Tales of the Cocktail conference. Will the Burritt Room be forced to forfeit the challenge, or will it find a champion in time? We're on the edge of our seats.
