Jeremy Fox to Stay, Long Bar Loses Partner, a Two-Year Wait, and Boxing Room Opens

Chef updates and partner changes: Grub Street reports chef Jeremy Fox, who is filling in at Saison for the week, is scouring the Bay Area for a space to house his new restaurant. Looking in S.F. and the East Bay, Fox may be leaning toward a warehouse space off the beaten path that can seat 50 to 60, it may be named Smith, and he may work with Kim Alter again. These possibilities will cement themselves in due time; no rush, as the timeline is about six months (possibly longer) into the future.
Both Inside Scoop and Grub Street report the loss of temporarily shuttered Long Bar's partner and bartender Reza Esmaili and consulting chef Erik Hopfinger. Grub, more optimistically, shares that Long Bar may still reopen (it's been closed since April), while Scoop, more realistically, states the bar's future remains uncertain. What is decided is Esmaili's decision to start a new restaurant/bar consulting service, Ananas.
Worth the wait? According to Inside Scoop, Seigo Takei and Keiko Takahashi had their eyes on 1250 Jones (at Clay) since they turned over El Paseo to Tyler Florence in 2009. At that time the space was for lease, but they weren't ready to make an offer, and Le Club moved into the location that formerly housed Charles Nob Hill and C&L Steakhouse. Now that Le Club has folded, Takei and Takahashi have signed a lease and are moving a French-influenced Japanese restaurant into the space. They're hoping to open Keiko à Nob Hill (tentative name) by the end of summer.
Also from Grub Street, Brother's Restaurant No. 2 is shuttering, and will become the second location of the Japanese izakaya Umami. Brothers Restaurant down the street at 4128 Geary will not be affected.
SFoodie's Valeire Luu reports Regan Long and Sarah Fenson of Local Brewing Co. are looking to set up a permanent brewery and tap room in Dogpatch, Mission, or Potrero Hill. The brewers are currently making their ale with Thirsty Bear and providing it on tap around the city (it's at Kilowatt today), hoping to raise funds for this future brewery.
And finally, two openers: Boxing Room (399 Grove at Gough), the Southern-inspired restaurant from chef Justin Simoneaux, opens its doors today, while Sanguchon, a Peruvian food truck from Piqueo's Carlos Altamirano, will roll into Off the Grid at Upper Haight this evening.
