Jeremy Fox Collaborates, Commis and Locavore See Chef Changes, Marin Food Trucks, More!

More news on chef changes, collaborations, and owner switchups. Earlier we mentioned, via Grub Street, that Jeremy Fox would take over Saison for a week. Now Grub Street reports he'll be collaborating with two chefs during this week: Eli Kirshstein (Top Chef season 6) and Kim Alter (of Plate Shop walkout fame).
Tablehopper reports Locavore's chef de cuisine, Jonathan Merritt, is now taking the helm as executive chef, while current chef-owner Jason Moniz will focus on special projects. And reported via Inside Scoop, Oakland's Commis has a new pastry chef: Kyle Caporicci, replacing Carlos Salgado, who is moving back to L.A. to open a new restaurant.
Also from Tablehopper, Bernal Heights' St. Mary's Pub gets a new look and new owners all the way from Boston. Bloody Marys will hit the menu this month. Naturally.
A couple of new tenants in the building. Tablehopper shares the Get Fresh Juice Bar, the latest addition slated to join the the Bayview Hunters Project at 5800 Carroll. The community-minded juice bar will employ staff from a Hunters Point Family youth development program. Expect juice, salads, and sandwiches from their organic community garden, recently redone with help from Michael Mina.
Tablehopper also reports the second of three retail spaces at 740 Valencia will be Dandelion Chocolates. Construction should start soon, and when completed, the hand-molded chocolate bars will be for sale alongside other chocolate goodies in the cafe space.
And the food trucks keep rolling down the road. We mentioned, via the Feast, that Off the Grid had moved into Berkeley, with plans for San Mateo and the South Bay. Now, Tablehopper gives word that Food Truck Crush is happening on Fridays at the Larkspur Ferry Terminal until September.
Grub Street reports Bluestem Brasserie, the pending steakhouse downtown, is planning to open June 20. Chef Sean Canavan (Left Bank, La Folie, and Chapeau!) will focus on "whole-animal butchery." Until the doors open, the restaurant is fine tuning with cocktail and dinner events.
Eater SF shares the new Financial District branch of Super Duper, the Niman Ranch burger restaurant, now has a computer generate facade. Originally set to open late May or early June, there's still no word on when burgers will be ready at the 731 Market location.
Yesterday LiveSOMA gave an update on the China Basin Focaccia Market & Bakery, which took over the Specialty's Cafe space when the eatery and building management couldn't come to terms on the agreement of a new lease. Today, LiveSOMA reports Specialty's is headed back to SOMA. The new space at 500 Howard is slated to open in August.
