34th Annual Haight-Ashbury Street Fair

Where: Haight between Ashbury and Masonic

When: Sun., June 12, 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

Cost: Free

The rundown: The historic Haight-Ashbury district, site of the Summer of Love more than 40 years ago, hosts a giant celebration every year on the second Sunday of June. Although the area is a bit more gentrified now, this neighborhood bash reminds that it can still be a place of peace, love, and happiness. The six blocks on Haight between Stanyan and Masonic will feature eclectic arts and crafts and, more importantly to some of us at SFoodie, 20 food booths with assorted cuisines and street food. There are four BBQ vendors, roasted corn, panini, Japanese, Thai, Venezuelan arepas from Pica Pica Maize Kitchen, and of course, Ben & Jerry's. A multitude of music bands will provide live entertainment on three stages, plus a children's area with acrobats, a puppet theatre, ice cream eating contest, and Monkey Butts (you have to attend to find out what that is).
