The past 72 hours in gossip, innuendo, and cold hard facts about the San Francisco food scene.

After 30 years, the historic Eagle Tavern has closed. The Examiner was first to report the solemn last-day crowd was reflective and nostalgic. Since the announcement in early April about its impending end, longtime patrons had been desperately trying to save it. We think the fight isn't over yet.

Another weekend closure was Darla's. Inside Scoop reports Darla Kubala and her restaurateur husband Eric Berman, former owner of Tempest, have moved to Kansas and left a burger-sized hole in the heart of Irving and Ninth streets.

Grub Street reports that the Saturday debut of Chaac Mool in Dolores Park went off with little fanfare, despite an unusual protest tactic. Not located directly in the park as was originally planned, the Yucatecan stand is now serving parkgoers at 19th and Dolores streets.

Eater SF learns of the resurrection of Bombay Bazar and Ice Cream at a new location (245 South Van Ness at Erie). The Indian-goods purveyor shuttered its Valencia Street store last November. Now it's back with Indian snacks and ice cream flavors like cardamom, rose, and saffron.

Also from Eater SF comes a sneak peek at Boxing Room's restaurant design and menu. The Louisiana-inspired restaurant, whose chef is Justin Simoneaux, is set to open in the old Citizen Cake space (399 Grove at Gough) later this month, bringing Southern flavors ― including alligator, frog, and turtle.
