Gumbo and Etouffée, Twice Weekly
When: Wednesdays and Fridays, starting Wed., May 25 (The Residence) and Fri., May 27 (La Victoria), 5 p.m.-?
Cost: $8 per item, $10 for specials
The rundown: With the gale force onslaught of street food in the Bay Area, you'd think every color of the cuisine rainbow would already be covered. Eastern European breakfast tacos with a s'mores twist? You got it! Yet, fresh on the heels of the shocking burger oversight which was just rectified, SFoodie has learned of another pop-up hole being filled. Starting next week, Easy Creole will be slinging gumbo, succotash, and more on Wednesdays and Fridays in San Francisco. At the Residence, they're serving red beans and rice with smoked sausage, spinach and mushroom étouffée, succotash, chicken creole, and a special "loaded" gumbo with chicken, sausage and spicy shrimp. Friday at La Victoria is almost the same menu; just swap out the chicken creole for pazole and the gumbo for artichoke with spicy shrimp. Easy Creole promises generous portions for each $8 item, served over rice with a side of creole garlic bread, but they don't promise enough food for everybody. First come first served!
