Lou Bustamante
Where: Starbelly, 3583 16th St. (at Market), 252-7500
When: Tue., Mar. 29-Tue., Sep. 20; 5-8 p.m.

The rundown: With the weather finally acknowledging the start of spring, a good way to celebrate is at Starbelly's new season of patio picnics, which begin tomorrow night. Chef Adam Timney kicks things off with a whole roast pig, house-made sausage and fregola pasta, broccoli di ciccio, butter lettuce salad, and chocolate-hazelnut filled bomboloni (Italian doughnuts). Timney has been honing his charcuterie skills since his days at Bacar, so keep an eye out for the cured meats, patés, and sausages, all made on-site. The picnics are served family-style on the back patio, which has a retractable cover and heaters -- the restaurant equivalent of dressing in layers.
Reservations strongly recommended; call 252-7500
