Smuggler's Cove Named Cocktail Bar of the Year

Martin Cate, Grand Poobah of San Francisco's rum and tiki culture, came home from Vegas last week with big winnings. Nope, not in casino chips: Cate's bar, Smuggler's Cove, won the most coveted prize ― Cocktail Bar of the Year ― at the 2011 Nightclub and Bar Awards.

Smuggler's Cove won for its selection of rums (hovering close to 300 bottles, including an agricole-style private label from St. George Spirits), education programs, tiki drinks, service, and décor, beating out nearly 300 bars for the title.
