McSweeney's Taking Preorders for Mission Street Food Cookbook
Last month we tipped you to the book Mission Chinese Food/Commonwealth's Anthony Myint and Karen Leibowitz were writing, Mission Street Food: Recipes and Ideas from an Improbable Restaurant, to be published this summer by the new McSweeney's cookbook imprint. Today comes word that the online McSweeney's Store is taking preorders for the book, which is expected to ship in late July. Need convincing? From McSweeney's:
Like Mission Street Food itself, this book is more than one thing: it's a cookbook featuring step-by-step photography and sly commentary, but it's also the memoir of a madcap project that redefined the authors' marriage and a city's food scene. Along with stories and recipes, you'll find an idealistic business plan, a cheeky manifesto, and thoughtful essays on issues ranging from food pantries to fried chicken. Plus, a comic.Bonus: Ten dollars from your $30 preorder goes to Slow Food USA. Now isn't that just like Mission Street Food?
