The rundown: Readings at Omnivore Books on Food are such a treat, not just because of the quality guests. Unlike other lectures and readings, Omnivore events often bridge the disconnect between food writers and their subject matter. Thus, when San Francisco cheese whiz Laura Werlin visits on Saturday to talk about her award-winning grilled cheese cookbook Grilled Cheese, Please!: 50 Scrumptiously Cheesy Recipes, you better believe there will be cheese. No word on which recipes she'll be using, but like American Grilled Cheese Kitchen, Werlin plays liberally with the form (such as her combo of raisin bread, almonds, and goat cheese with chipotle peppers).
