The Oakland Tribune leads Buzz Machine with an announcement that La Taza de Cafe's Daniel Brajkovich and Yusuf Spiers have opened Caña on Lake Merritt (530 Lake Park Ave., Oakland, 510-832-1515, canaoakland.com). The pitch: Cuban takeout spot. (Thanks to Scoop for the link.)
More February-freshening-up news, Inside Scoop reports that Red and White (678 Chenery, 333-2200), the year-old Glen Park wine bar, has closed. The owners are teaming up with Le P'tit Laurent's Laurent Legendre to renovate the space, reformulate it as an oyster and wine bar, and reopen in March.
Eater SF goes live with the news that the Wolfgang Puck Express in Macy's, which filled SFoodie's gut more times than we care to remember when we worked downtown, has closed.
