Pi Bar, site of your 3 o'clock "appointment."
Thursday, Feb. 17

We advised you to play hooky yesterday, so we'll assume you're gracing the office with your hungover presence on Day Seven of SF Beer Week. That doesn't mean you can't "have an appointment" that causes you to leave work early, just about the time your colleagues are making their 3 p.m. caramel macchiato run (we know, SFoodie's a bad influence).

First, start your happy hour earlier than usual at Pi Bar:

Meet the Brewer: Marin Brewing Co.
Where: Pi Bar, 1432 Valencia St. (at 25th St.), 970-9670
When: 3-11:30 p.m.
Cost: Pay per drink
What: Chat with brewer Arne Johnson, the brains behind Larkspur's hometown brewing heroes. Sample special drafts, including barrel-aged Brass Knuckle Imperial IPA, Star Brew Wheatwine, and a brand new IPA.

Still yearning for last week's (very late) Indian summer? Sample beers from one of San Diego's innovative breweries, and pretend you're in sunny Southern California for the day:

Sipping Session with Ballast Point Brewing
Where: City Beer Store, 1168 Folsom (at Eighth St.), 503-1033
When: 4-7 p.m.
Cost: Pay per drink
What: Let brewer Yuseff Cherney give you the rundown on Ballast Point's nautical brews while tasting rare treats like Tongue Buckler Double Red Ale and barrel-aged Black Marlin Porter. Bonus points if you dress like a pirate.

Now that you've built up a base tan, slather on some sunblock and continue your tour of San Diego's beer scene:

San Diego Night/Drake's Jack 'n' Jolly Release
Where: Toronado, 547 Haight (at Fillmore), 863-2276
When: 6 p.m.
Cost: Pay per drink
What: Now that Toronado has colonized the south with their San Diego location, we can sit back and reap the rewards. Enjoy a selection of brews from some of SoCal's award-winningest breweries. If you want to keep it NorCal, you're in luck. Drakes' newest creation, a Jack Daniels barrel-aged version of their Jolly Rodger seasonal, will be tapped simultaneously.
