On Artisan Food: Kim Severson, Chad Robertson, and Sue Conley

When: Wed., Mar. 2, 8 p.m.

Where: Herbst Theatre, 401 Van Ness (at Grove), 392-4400

Cost: $21

The rundown: The notion of artisan food wasn't invented in Northern California, but we did help pioneer the idea that small-scale, handmade foods could form the nucleus of a political movement. Wednesday, two local champions of that artisanal revival ― Tartine's Chad Robertson and Cowgirl Creamery's Sue Conley ― talk it out onstage in this City Arts and Lectures event, joined by New York Times Atlanta bureau chief and ex-San Franciscan Kim Severson. Afterwards, there'll be a book signing in the Herbst lobby with Robertson (Tartine Bread) and Severson (Spoon Fed), where you can fawn, schmooze, or just raise your fist in artisan solidarity.
