Mission Minis One-Year Anniversary Party

Where: Mission Minis, 3168 22nd St. (at Capp), 378-7827

When: Sat., Feb. 12, 6 p.m.

The rundown: A year or so ago, we wondered how long cupcakes would continue to be big. Brandon Arnovick responded by making them small ― we're talking adorably, itty-bitty-sized, Legoland-scale small. In fall 2009, Tamara Palmer clocked Arnovick making deliveries of his mini cupcakes to Philz and other early adopters by golf cart; four months later, the Mission Minis 22nd Street bakery and retail counter was merely the latest incarnation of the neighborhood's zeal for the quirky. Feel the love Saturday, when Mission Minis marks its first birthday with free cupcakes and libations. Food for sale from friends and neighbors, including Bike Basket Pies, the Chai Cart, Mad 4 Madeleines, Local Flavor SF, Clairesquares, Little Knock, and Rocky's Frybead. Next day, show up at SFoodie's One Love bake sale at La Victoria, where you can shed a few dollars for Mission Minis cupcakes to benefit a good cause.
