DPW's formal implementation of S.F.'s new mobile vending ordinance starts Mar. 7.
The city's new mobile food ordinance was formally approved back in January, but as anyone closely following the JapaCurry saga can tell you, implementation has still been in the hands of the Police Department's Permits Division. As of Mar. 7, the Department of Public Works takes authority for implementing the new ordinance, including issuing new permits to food trucks and pushcart vendors. Tomorrow, DPW's holding an afternoon-spanning town hall and workshop to explain implementation of the new rules and field questions. DPW's spokeswoman says the agency's bureau managers all plan to speak, which, for 4 hours, is a lot of talking. Interested? Show up at 1 South Van Ness (at Market), Atrium Conference Room, 4-7 p.m.
