The rundown: We heard you're fronting like a chocolate pro, all "nib" this" and "single-source" that. We suggest you check yourself, junior ― you've got a lot to learn. Tonight at the de Young Museum, dig a little deeper as artist Evelyn Orantes takes you back to cacao's Latin roots. She will show you all the steps in crafting the perfect drinking chocolate (hot chocolate's richer, non-powdered cousin), including how cacao seeds are ground, how to froth the liquid, and exploring the drink's traditional spices. For the advanced pupil, Orantes will show you how to decipher ancient Mayan cacao hieroglyphics and help you create your own cacao art. There will also be live marimba music, cacao painting demonstrations, and snacks while they last.
