Celebrating Citrus at the Ferry Building

Where: Ferry Building Marketplace, 1 Ferry Building (at Embarcadero)

When: Sat., Feb. 19, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Cost:
Free ($1 donation for citrus tasting)

The rundown:
Most mornings we wake up with no regrets on which side of the NorCal/SoCal divide we call home. With weather like this week's, though, our loyalty can be put to the test. Well CUESA can't bring you sunshine but they can make your Saturday brighter with a celebration of all things citrus. At 10 a.m., June Taylor demonstrates "From Stem to Seed" (not to be confused with Seed to Stalk), where she will go Whole Beast on a piece of citrus and give you tastes of its gory remains ― marmalade and candied peels. At 11, don't miss a seasonal cooking demonstration from man-of-the-hour Thomas McNaughton of Flour and Water, followed by another at 11:45 by Steven Rojas of Chez Papa Resto. There will also be citrus tastings all day, recipes, and a tree-grafting display for the DIY set.
